We're excited to welcome a passionate and people-focused Human Resources Manager to our team! In this role, you'll play a key part in shaping a vibrant and supportive workplace by leading essential HR functions. From creating smooth and welcoming onboarding experiences to supporting thoughtful offboarding, maintaining accurate employee data, and helping resolve conflicts with care, you’ll be at the heart of our employee experience. We're looking for someone who brings both strong interpersonal skills and a knack for using HR technology; someone who’s committed to building a positive, engaged, and thriving team culture.
NOTE: This is a volunteer role requiring a substantial time commitment. Hopefully, as our organization becomes more developed the time commitment will reduce. However, during high-profile events like CitizenCon, Bar CitizenCon Week, or other CIG attended large events the commitment may increase.

Responsibilities
Landing Protocols (Onboarding): Welcome new crew members aboard by guiding them through a smooth launch sequence—orientation, comms setup, paperwork, and training prep to get them mission-ready.
Departure Procedures (Offboarding): Help our departing members make a graceful landing, conducting thoughtful exit debriefs and coordinating final checklists while honoring their contributions.
Crew Roster Management (Member Management): Keep our crew manifest current—updating member records, org charts, and reporting lines in our HR systems to reflect who’s active and where they’re stationed.
Diplomatic Mediation (Conflict Resolution): When tensions flare in the fleet, step in as a neutral arbiter to de-escalate and resolve conflicts while reinforcing our shared values and mutual respect.
Regulatory Navigation (Policy Compliance): Make sure every jump, whether onboarding, offboarding, or mediating, is done by the book, following org standards and legal protocols.
Crew Comms (Employee Support): Be the go-to contact when crew members have questions about HR matters, offering support, empathy, and clear guidance.
Mission Data Integrity (Data Management): Maintain accurate personnel data across all systems, preparing reports for command and ensuring we’re audit-ready at all times.
System Calibration (Process Optimization): Look for ways to streamline our HR systems and enhance every crew member's experience.
Fleet Coordination (Collaboration): Work closely with the BCI board and department heads to ensure our HR practices support our shared goals and evolving crew needs.
Community Spirit (Excitement): Be a proud part of the Bar Citizen® initiative, helping bring Star Citizen® fans together in the real world—one unforgettable gathering at a time.
Crew Training: Conduct training sessions for employees and or coordinators on HR related issues.
Requirements
Must Have
Must be an existing Bar Citizen® Coordinator.
Experience as an HR Manager.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to handle sensitive situations diplomatically.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in managing records and processes.
Knowledge of employment laws and regulations related to hiring, termination, and workplace disputes.
Ability to work independently and manage confidential information with discretion.
Nice to have
Experience with Odoo software platform.
Fluent in any additional languages that could help us better connect with citizens around the globe.
